This time around we are bringing you ten of the top rated TV shows. The ratings are based on more than five thousand votes by the viewers. The information was taken from IMDB (Internet Movie Database). There are shows listed below that date back to really old times and there are a few that are very recent. I am sure you haven’t watched all of them but let me tell you that if you do, you will not regret it. I recently started watching the show on number 3 and so far it has been an absolute delight. 10. MONTY PYTHON’S FLYING CIRCUS
This is a British Sketch comedy series and it is created by the comedy group called Mondy Python. It was broadcasted by BBC from 1969 to 1974. The first ever episode of this show was recorded on the 7th September and it was broadcasted on 5th October of 1969. A total of 45 episodes were released that is four seasons. The show often targeted the idiosyncrasies of British life especially of those who were professionals. They members were highly educated. The show was created by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin.
9. THE LEGEND OF KORRA
I am sure you are familiar with Avatar: The Last Airbender. Well, this particular series is a sequel to that. It is an American animated television series and it premiered on the 14th April of 2012. The show is created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The show is currently aired on Nickelodeon and even though the show is very young, it has managed to warm up to the audience and gain the ninth rank on this list. The show has a total of one season that is twelve episodes. Originally it was meant to be just the season although now the second season is gearing up.
8. TWILIGHT ZONE
This particular series is American and was created by Rod Serling. There are a total of 156 episodes in the series. It’s hard to put a lock on the genre because it hits drama, fantasy, science fiction and horror. The series is full of twists too. It is very popular among the viewers and critics alike. The show was so successful that it led to the creation of a feature film, a radio series, a comic book and a magazine.
7. FIREFLY
The writer and director of the series is Joss Whedon and it was created under the label Mutant Enemy Productions. It is an American television series and is set in the year 2517. The humans arrive in a new start system and it all starts to happen from then on out. It was premiered on the 20th September in 2002 on Fox. Just three months later the show managed to grab around 4.7 million views per episode. The show was cancelled after eleven episodes were aired. I wonder why that happened when the show was doing so big.
6. THE SOPRANOS
The drama series is created by David Chase. It is an American show and is based on an Italian-American who is in New Jersey. His name is tony Soprano and he is played by James Gandolfini. It premiered on HBO in the United States of America on the tenth of January in 1999. The original series has a total of 86 episodes and six seasons. The show was completed on the tenth of June in 2007. The show was primarily filmed at the Silvercup Studios. This has been considered to be the most financially successful cable TV shows of its time.
5. BREAKING BAD
Breaking Bad is created and produced by Vince Gilligan. It is an American TV show which is set and produced in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is a story of a high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with lung cancer. That happens at the beginning of the series and thereafter he chooses crime as his life. He teams up with a former student of his, Jesse Pinkman. He wants to secure the wealth of his family before his life is over. The series has won six Emmy awards in total. It has a total of 46 episodes and four seasons.
4. ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT
This is an American sitcom that was created by Mitchell Hurwitz for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The show centers on one family primary that used to be really wealthy. It was mostly filmed in Culver City and Marina del Ray. The show debuted on the 2nd November in 2003. It has a total of three seasons which makes 53 episodes. It was appreciated by the critics.
3. GAME OF THRONES
I am very sure that this particular series does not need any introduction. This particular series was debuted in 2011 and it is an American TV show. It was created by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO. The first season debuted on the 17th April in 2011 in the United States of America and since then it has been very well received by the critics and viewers alike. The show has already won numerous awards. So far a total of twenty episodes have been released. That makes two seasons, the third season should be released in April next year. Keep your fingers crossed.
2. THE WIRE
The Wire is set and produced in Baltimore, Maryland. It is an American TV Series. The show was broadcasted on HBO in the States. It premiered on the 2nd June in 2002. It has a total of 60 episodes over a span of five seasons. The seasons are entirely different and they focus on different aspects of Baltimore; illegal drug trade, seaport system, government, school system and the print and news media. The show was created by David Simon.
1. PLANET EARTH
Planet Earth is produced by BBC Natural History Unit and it all started back in the year 2006. It is the most expensive documentary on nature that has ever been commissioned by BBC. It is also the first to be filmed in high definition. The documentary has been shown in around 130 countries worldwide. The first broadcast happened in March of 2006. There are a total of eleven episodes and each one of those episodes is around fifty minutes in length. You will thoroughly enjoy the show so if you haven’t watched it yet, do it now!
