5. Mario Lopez and Ali Landry

For many of the relationships on this list, marriage seems to have been the kiss of death rather than the start of eternal bliss. So it was for “Saved by the Bell” star Mario Lopez and actress Ali Landry, who dated for a full 6 years but split up after just 2 weeks of marriage. The issue? Lopez’s cheating behavior at his bachelor party. It’s a trap that many men have fallen into, and in Lopez’s case it led to him losing the former Miss USA. On the Wendy Williams Show, Landry recently opened up about it, saying she heard rumors about his infidelity just before the wedding but was scared to stop it. Then she did what any sensible woman would do, and tapped his phone, heard phone calls from girls and annulled the marriage. Her subsequent marriage to Alejandro Monteverde seems to be much happier and has lasted 7 years so far.

4. Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra

Now, we’re getting into the realms of seriously short marriages – the ones that can be counted in days rather than weeks. Technically, the marriage between the actress and the basketball player lasted for 5 months, but seeing as Rodman tried to get an annullment after 9 days, I think we can say that the true length of the marriage was just over a week. It was another Las Vegas ceremony – at the Little Chapel of the Flowers – and it happened at 7am, when Rodman may well still have been drunk from the night before. Speaking about it later, Electra compared it to getting a cheeseburger in a fast food restaurant and dismissed the decision to marry with “It’s easy to get caught up in a moment.”

3. Dennis Hopper and Michelle Phillips

The “Easy Rider” star and director was never the easiest person to live with, heavy drugs were a part of his day-to-day life, as was cruelly tormenting his co-stars and even attempting to set someone on fire because she looked like Joan of Arc (he was on a lot of drugs at the time). So it’s hardly a surprise that his drunken marriage to Michelle Phillips, of the Mamas and Papas, fell apart after 8 days. He woke up the day after the wedding so high that he didn’t recognize his new wife – not the best start to a marriage.

It seems that Michelle didn’t have the best taste in men at the time. She was married to fellow Mamas and Papas singer John Phillips for 8 years, but they split after she had affairs with both a band mate (Denny Doherty) and Gene Clark of the Byrds. Later, John Phillip’s daughter would claim that he had an incestuous relationship with her. So, a druggie maniac and an abusive father? Good choices of husband Michelle…Hopefully her fifth marriage, which has so far lasted 13 years, is making her happy.

2. Britney Spears and Jason Alexander

One of the most famously brief marriages, this union lasted a mere 55 hours before being dissolved. If you’ve been paying attention so far, you’ll hardly be amazed to learn that the wedding took place in Las Vegas, at the Little White Wedding Chapel. Britney was wearing jeans and baseball cap and apparently the spirit of Vegas just took her over. Once the spirit of Vegas had left again, she didn’t waste much time in getting it annulled – handy, as she got married again later that year. The second marriage was to Kevin Federline and that lasted for 2 years and 2 children before ending in divorce. And all before she was 25!

1. Zsa Zsa Gabor and Felipe DeAlba

But Britney has some way to go before she tops the record of Zsa Zsa Gabor. The actress had 9 husbands and is probably more famous for that feat than for her acting. The briefest of these lasted just a day, and it was to Mexican attorney and actor Felipe DeAlba, in April 1983. The marriage took place on board a ship, with the Captain officiating but there were some technical problems, the most serious being Gabor’s lack of divorce from previous husband Michael O’Hara. This tiny issue caused the marriage to be annulled the next day. 3 years later, she married her 9th and (so far) final husband Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt, a marriage that has lasted 30 years. Obviously she was just waiting for the right man to come along, and that man wasn’t DeAlba!
